My four month old great great niece is suffering with a respitoryinfection. She is congested and running a fever. Her parent, who are young, and this is their first, took her to an Urgent Care today. They were told that she was too young to receive treatment such as antibotics. They have good insurance so this was not the problem. I am 75 years old, raised two children and assisted in the raising of four grandchildren, and i find this hard to believe. Can you confirm or advise what steps I should advise them to take? I live in another state and the grandmother who normally assists in these things is in another state awaiting the delivery of a CF baby and has ask me to help. My advise to them tonight was to take her to a childrens hospital if available or to the er of a major hospital which would be in Jonesboro, AR. Should they decide not to take tonight then to keep her suctioned, keep her head evavated and to do manual breathing treatments.
