My Heart Is Acting Up And Donot Know What It Is?

I was just laying down playing some xbox, when my heart all of the sudden started acting up, like it was pumping really hard and fast and really rough. Like I could hear it clearly it was pumping so hard, and I felt like I was going to pass out. it lasted for like 10 seconds then all the sudden stopped. Could this be bad? Also I ve had a little cold lately with coughing, if that could be apart of why that happend. Few more details, i m 17. Oh and I think I had the swine flu , a mild case a couple weeks ago. I might still be getting over it. But I m not exactly sure if I had it or just had a cold. I never went to the doctor or anything, just looked up the symptoms and It seemed like I had the swine flu. Oh and Haha I haven t been getting much sleep lately. Modern warfare 2.. Yeah... living on that.. I ve been on a terrible sleeping schedule. and no, I m not stressed or have had too much salt... Well.. I eat like 2 or 3 times a day. sometimes less. I rarely have caffine or sugar. I usually just eat some cereal during the day and then dinner. Usually just your average homecooked meals.

If this is a one time occurrence it may mean little or nothing. This is especially true if you are very young. If it happens again it should be investigated. The fact that it occurred when you were lying down is of some concern, unless you were very excited because of the X-box game you were playing. It might be prudent of you to schedule an appointment with your doctor. Explain the occurrence very carefully in as much detail as you can remember. The doctor may want to take an ECG to check your heart for any abnormalities. The ECG can show an abnormality, if any exists, even though you are experiencing no symptoms at the time. There appears to be no need for worry but a little preventive care can mean a lot to your future health. Your cold should not have had anything to do with your heart.
