My Mother-in-law Had A Heart Monitor Test And Was Told

My mother-in-law had a heart monitor test and was told that her heart had stopped for 3 seconds -- apparently a number of times. She never passed out or was even aware of it. The doctor has referred her to a cardiologist for a possible pacemaker. What is the significance that her heart stopped for "3 seconds" as opposed to some other time?
