My Mother Is 87 Years Old And Has A Mass

My mother is 87 years old and has a mass in her right ovary of about 2 cms. I was asked "to just let it go" by the doctors who say she is "too old" to go into surgery but she wants to live. Question is: is ovary removal too heavy a surgery for a woman of 87 or is she going to recover? If not, can it be removed laparoscopically?
