My Son, Age 17, Has Been Given A Referral For

My son, age 17, has been given a referral for a biopsy from his dentist today. He complained of a bump under his tongue that wasn't going away over several months, but would increase and decrease in how annoying it was, but wasn't feeling much pain. His dentist also found white patch on his tonsil or just near his tonsil. I'm looking up information to help me understand what his condition could be. I am scheduling his appointment with a specialist for a biopsy tomorrow.
