Nasal Congestion, Swollen Uvula, Flap Of Tissue Next To Uvula. Advise?
Hello, I seem to be suffering from alot of nasal congestion, my uvula is often swollen and large and a there is a flap of tissue next to my uvula that seems to drop. I am very curious what this enlarged or piece of tissue is in my mouth,. It is located on my soft palate but looks much different than the oppsite side of my mouth.
Nasal congetion and swollen uvula suggests that you suffer from allergy. Allergy causes the mucosa to swell up and remain congested. An anti histaminic like loratidine will help in this condition. However, if the problem is very troublesome you need to consult your ENT specialist.
A soft tissue that you are feeling close to the uvula can be due to the congestion of the mucosa or some growth of the oral mucosa which is hanging down from the soft palate.
A clinical examination by an ENT specialist is required. In case a mass is present, a biopsy (examination of part of the mass) is needed. This investigation will help to know the nayute and origin of the lesion.
