ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query.
From your symptoms it looks like you have facial palsy - weakness of the nerve supplying the structure of the face.
Facial palsy produces the following symptoms
1) Twisting of one side of the face - deviation of one angle of the mouth.
2) Inability to close one eye leading to redness and watering of the eye.
3) Inability to retain food in the mouth and drooling.
4) Altered taste.
Common causes for facial palsy are
1) Stroke. Other symptoms like weakness of limbs, altered consciosness etc will be present in stroke.
2) Bell's palsy - facial palsy of unknown reason. complete recovery usually occurs with conservative management.
3) Ear infection.
4) Herpes zoster.
5) Injuries and fractures of facial bones.
You need to see a doctor IMMEDIATELY for early management.
Till then take care of your eye. Keep it shut with bandage to avoid drying and damage to the eye.
Regards,
Dr Rajkishori.
