Neck Pain, Sore Throat. Taken Cough Syrup And Ibuprofen. No Fever, Strep Throat Or Tonsils. Any Ideas?
My fiance has a throbbing ache in the left side of his neck. He went to the clinic and they said he's not sick, no fever or other flu like symptoms, it's not his tonsils or strep throat and his lymph nodes seem fine. He feels fine, other than the sore throat. He used cough syrup to soothe it and ibuprophen last night, but it didnt help. Any ideas?
Hi ! Most of the sore throat are viral infection to start with, which may get super added bacterial infection if not taken care of. In any case, he can go either for a warm saline gargle or an anti septic gargle three times a day along with simple steam inhalation. Apart from this he may take some decongestant tablets also. If the symptoms increase, then you may have to get him reviewed by an ENT specialist, who may advise him some antibiotics for the bacterial part of the infection. Wishing him an early recovery.
