Hi. My 83-year-old mother takes 1 mg of risperidone with 20 mg of Citalopram for Lewy Body Dementia. That, combined with Metformin for diabetes that is supposed to be in check, is making her listless. Any suggestions. Please tell me more than consult with her doctor. Thanks.
As it appears from your query that metformin alone should not be given. In fact metformin should be avoided in patients with diabetes that too elderly aged. It carries risk of lactic acidosis which is detrimental. it is always adviced to go for gliclazide 60mg sustained release preparation which causes less amount of hypoglycemia.
Thanks
