Need Medication For Pain On The Left Side Of The Rib Cage

I need to give you a little history. On holidays left home last week driving 10 hrs first day. Started off good then winded up with very uncomfortable pain on my left side which radiated to below my rib age . Tylenol didn't work neither did bengay. Ended up with a very flush face that night and prickly heat. The ache wasn't as severe on the right side
Sleeping was no problem. This continued for the next 4 days. Good in the morning and as soon as I started walking it became unbearable. Bengay seem to help. Lots of belching going on as well. Got to our destination and went for a massage. There were definitely some knots that needing working on. I was still sore walking so taking it easy. As was the case no problem sleeping and woke up feeling good. I didn't have to use the bengay till last night the pain in my upper right shoulder to my spine I had excruciating pain lying down walking didn't matter. It felt like a vice being squeezed on my upper right side. We applied the bengay but it wasn't doing its magic at all. Sharp twinges into my abdomen. When I get that pain it's usually on my leftside. It seem to go downhill after having a hamburger for supper. I took some tums. Kind of helped. Not such a good day today . Woke up with pain. Haven't a clue what's going on. My temp is ok 99. As I type this it's easing up again. Who knows it might disappear again. That excrutiating pain I was talking about is a familiar pAin to me. But comming more often
Thanks Denise

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
In my opinion you are having mostly GERD ( gastroesophageal reflux disease ).
But better to rule out cardiac cause first.
So get done ecg and 2d echo to rule out cardiac cause .
If both are normal then no need to worry for cardiac cause.
GERD is more in your case. It is due to laxity of gastroesophageal sphincter. Because of this the acid of the stomach tends to come up in the esophagus and cause the symptoms.
Stress is the common worsening factor for GERD. So try to follow these lifestyle modifications along with drugs for better symptomatic relief.
1. Avoid hot and spicy food.
2. Avoid stress and tension.
3. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals.
4. Start Proton pump inhibitors.
5. Go for walk after meals.
6. Keep 2 - 3 pillows under head in bed to prevent reflux.
7. Loose weight if you are obese.
8. Avoid smoking and alcohol if you have these habits.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
