I had a stress test and could not pass it due to shortness of breath, But they told me it was normal. Then they did a echo and it was normal. This was 3 yrs ago, when I walk, climb stairs, carry in groceries, the pain comes on in chest, into the right side of my neck and jaw, shoulder, and my heart skips. I had another EKG last week and I was told it was normal. I sit down when this happens and it goes away real fast. What could it be?
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation and problem. Since your ECG, stress test and echo are normal, no need to worry much for cardiac cause. Pulmonary causes like bronchitis and fibrosis can cause breathlessness on exertion and relieved by rest. So better to consult pulmonologist and get done 1. Clinical examination of respiratory system. 2. Chest x ray. 3. PFT ( pulmonary function test ) 4. CT thorax if required. Chest x ray and CT thorax are needed to rule out fibrosis and PFT is needed to rule out bronchitis. So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
