Need To Know If There Is Any Problem With Red Bump.

I have had this weird red bump on my bottom for a couple years. It s not popable and does not hurt. It almost looks like a scar but it s red, it s a perfect circle, a little raise, and about the size of half of a dime. I put a needle tip to it and it is sensitive. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be due to:
1. Ringworm (tinea) infection
2. Urticaria
3. Contact dermatitis

Symptomatic relief can be obtained with:
1. Application of Calamine lotion for symptomatic relief.
2. Intake of antihistamine preparations like Allegra.
3. Application of topical steroid & antifungal ointment like Clotrimazole.
4. Antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infection.

If symptoms still persist, kindly visit a Dermatologist & get a proper clinical examination done to find the exact cause.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
