Need Treatment For Anxiety.

Hi, I m a 35 year old mother of 2 and am currently just at the beginnings of going through a divorce. I currently do not have a primary care physician and am feeling extreme anxiety at times and am having emotional breakdowns. It is affecting my work and I just feel like I need a little bit of help to get through this. In the past I took Xanax for a period of 3 months while we went through a rough patch about 5 years ago, i took about 1 every 4 days, it s all i needed. I don t need it all the time just when i feel i can t seem to gain control back over my emotions. The soonest i can get in to PCP is 4 weeks, I m just afraid I need something sooner to help. I am using the help of a counselor offered through work EAP program but they can t prescribe medications.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

I think, you can try relaxation exercise. That would help you to stay calm and relax. You can also take antidepressant like paroxetine that would keep these anxiety attacks under control, but for that, you have to consult a psychiatrist. In case, you need further help, you can ask.

Thanks
