Needle Like Sharp Pain In Head And Ears, Have Cold, Sore Throat, Green Mucus From Nose. What Is The Reason?

Good morning, since Sunday I`ve been suffering from needle like aches in my head and ears, it is not constant , but quite often I feel sharp stubbing pain all over the head and either left or right ear. Also I have a pain which is strange , when I touch my head, I feel like my skin on the head hurts. I`ve been having a cold since last Thursday, more sore throat, a bit of green mucus from the nose, but not a big blockage. Please could you suggest something?
thank you

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding common cold , pinching headache and severe off and on pain in the ear.

After thinking about your symptoms and co-relating them with possible pathophysiology it appear that you are suffering from acute upper respiratory tract infection involving your nose , paranasal sinuses , throat and extending through eustachian tube (tubular connection between throat and ear) up to ear.
Therefore you are having common cold , severe headache and pinching pain in both ears.

Thus the possible diagnosis for your disease is " acute rhinosinusitis with pharyngitis with acute otitis media ".

For getting relief you should take-

1- Tab Paracetamol.

2- Anti histaminic & decongestant.

3- Steam inhalation.

4- Warm saline gargling.

5- Antibiotic - Broad spectrum with anaerobic coverage.

I hope this will help you , but unfortunately if you does not feel better than consultation with ENT doctor will become necessary.

Regards.
