Hello,

I am Sunil has Allergy Asthma .. Recently 2-3 weeks ago I had nightsweet & had cough from last 2-3 years I visited doctor for Allergy asthma treatment and he conducted some tests below-
Chest Xray - result is normal nothing is seen.
Siness X-ray - Normal
Sputum - AFB positive
Montux Skin test - 18 *20 positive .
HDL cholestrol - 28.5
Serum IGE - 764

After finding AFB positive doctor has strated treatment of TB .. Could you please suggest what should I do before starting the treatment . I will later start treatment of Allergy-Asthma but now I want to make sure that I do have TB or not.. any other tests which can confirm that I had TB ..

Chest X-RAY is very normal and I had never fever since long months .

hi sunil,
Thanks for visiting HCM.
Tuberculosis is usually diagnosed by sputum test where actually the bacteria is visualized under microscope. Almost it mean to have tuberculosis if positive. Moreover your symptom profile of night sweats favor it.
montoux test strong positivity also suggests the disease.
Chest x-ray can be normal in a variant called endobronchial tuberculosis and a normal x-ray doesn't rule out tuberculosis.
Your doctor is very right in starting the tubercular treatment and I hereby advise to follow his prescription.
Other test can be a raised ESR. Gold standard is culture of the sputum but will take almost 6 weeks for growth and actually not needed at tjis time..

Best wishes
