No Improvement After Taking Treatment For Depression. Could I Be Misdiagnosed For Depression When It Is Actually Bipolar Disorder?
I have been on/off antidepressants for 20 years, but never have had any consistent period of feeling ok . I ve been doing a lot of research and think that I ve been misdiagnosed as having depression, when in fact, it s Bipolar 2 disorder, which would mean a different set of meds. Between Lithium and Lamictal, which have you found most successful?
Bipola 2 and depression .Trust your psychistrist .Discuss your full history of disease with your psychiatrist for correct diagnosis and to remove your doubts without full history commenting Bipola 1 or 2 will not be correct It is well documented that in long standing cases of Bipolar ;depression take long time to show results Usually this is disease where total normalcy is short livid .First drug which you have mentioned has effect on thyroid and may cause hypothyroidism which in turn produces Depression . So Thyroid functions specially TSH is to be done in a good patho lab .if TSH are high the first drug is not to be used The second drug because of sedative effect may cause depression like symptoms Discuss these with your doctor and you will be having better progress .
