Nose Bleeding For Several Days. Taking Antibiotic, Placing Ice And Tampons. Suggestions?

My elderly mother has had nose bleeding for several days. She had it cauderize. Seen a nose specialist and her primary physician. She had her blood check, potassium check, all came good. Her primary gave her antibotics today for a cough and allergies of post nasal drip. What can we do to help her, we have place ice to cool her around her back, head, and nose. Placed tampons to stop bleeding. Any suggestions???

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
As she is having this problem since days requires giving attention.
If she is having high blood pressure and not controlled bleeding from nose is common.
If she is taking blood thinner medicine like aspirin, heparine, this problem can occur.
Low platelet count or high clotting, bleeding time may produce bleeding.
So stop this type of medicine after consulting your doctor.
Apply ice pack on nose.
Put some decongestant nasal drops like Otrivin.
Ok and bye.
While bleeding do not wipe out blood from the site.
