Noticed Flare Ups On Fingers Which Hardens , Forms Cracks And Also Bleeds

For the last couple of years I have been having flare ups on the tips of my fingers, a few at any given time, where the skin typically hardens and then erupts in a crack which at times, gets deep and causes bleeding. Its painful and just annoying. I have tried to cut out alcohol, eased up on wheat/ gluten but nothing seems to help. The few dermatologists I have seen tell me to keep my hands moisturized and use Cetaphil. I have applied a topical steroids which doesn t really do much. Any ideas? Any other dietary ideas? anything?

Hi,

It may be finger tip dermatitis most probably.

Avoid the contact with suspected allergens like soap,grass,detergent,cosmetics..etc

Take a course of oral steroid in tapering dose. Take cap acitretin 10 mg daily for few months. Apply steroid combined with salicylic ointment on the lesions. On fissures, apply antibiotic cream. Do not torture the skin.

Hope this helps.
