Hi.
Thanks for asking in Healthcare Magic.

Although the genetic risk for the incidence of breast cancer is only around 10%, it is always better to rule out through physical examination, mammogram and biopsy and you are wise to fix an early appointment.

The most common benign conditions causing lump in breast Fibroadenoma, fibroadenosis and cysts. In Fibroadenoma the lump is usually small, rubbery and freely mobile. Lump of fibroadenosis is painful and is usually seen during period. Cysts will have a cystic feel and will not be felt as lump.

Malignant lumps are attached to skin causing skin puckering or dimpling and retraction of nipple to the tumor side. Pain may or may not be present in the early stages. There may be enlargement of lymph nodes in the axilla.

The lump seen in your breast can even be a simple skin problem and the pain may be due to repeated handling of the lump by you. However, only physical examination, mammography, MRI and FNAC can be confirmatory.

Good Luck.
I hope this is useful to you.

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

Please do not have prior belief that it is a cancer only.Though heredity plays a role here.

But i would suggest you to visit your gynec and get it examined by screening test. That would give you answer what the lesion could be.

whether it is benign or malignant depends upon the its extent, mode of spread and involvement of surrounding structures.

Therefore please do not be worried, meet your doctor first.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Take care.
