Noticed Mouth Is Dark Compared To Rest Of Face. Suggested Face Pack. Can I Use It? Remedy?
Hi,
Area around my mouth is very dark compared to rest of my face. I was prescribed by a doctor to use tretinoin but it did not help and moreover doctor advised me to not to stop this.. I didn't want to continue with a Steroid on a long run.
I checked with another dermatologist, she mentioned that Pigmentation is due to aggregated oil in the skin and suggested me face pack(it was in house product) , even this did not work.
Please suggest me what i can use on skin.

hi... darkness around the mouth could be due to vitamin deficiency/it could be due to endocrinal problem(hyperadrenalism), see your endocrinologist for the investigation and management... if there is no problem with the hormones, try multivitamins with minerals, and use sunscreen when you go out in the sun... all the very best..

After reading your query I can make out that you have the normal pigmentation around the mouth which is more prominent. It is quite common to find dark areas genetically at these sites.
We have with us the cells known as melanocytes which gives colot to the skin. At some places is naturally producing more color as around mouth in your case.
Applying tretinoin or steroid or any face pack would not be of any help in this condition and would be mere wastage of time and even you may harm your skin in long run by any steroid cream application.
For the betterment you can apply "Azelaic acid" or "Kojic acid" in different combinations and strength under dermatological guidance. SO meet a good and proper dermatologist in your city, explain him the situation and have a good follow up to see the result.
Along with this kindly eat lot of fruits containing vitamin C and vitamin A which will act as natural sunscreen and also will help you in improving the color.
