Numbing Works After Applying Walgreens For A Cyst On Rectum, Pain Comes Back Quickly. Is It Safe To Apply Twice ?

Regarding a cyst on rectum that doctor has lanced on Wednesday. She is applying Walgreens Pain Relieving Ointment for Boils, Walgreens brand which is compared to Boil Ease. Numbing works but she needs to apply more than 2 times a day since the pain comes back quickly. She hasn't done yet because of the directions. Is is safe for her to apply more often than 2 times a day?? She is also taking Perkice. Thank you for your help.

Welcome to Healthcaremagic. Walgreens pain releiving oinment contains nothing but Local anaesthetic called benzocaine. It acts by blocking sodium channels in painful areas nerve endings. If there is no allergic reaction to Walgreens Pain Releiving Oinment, You can apply only for 2 times per day at regular intervel. Because it can absorbed systemically and cause adverse effects.
