Old Aged, Suffering Terminal Anguish In Dying Process, Displaying Cheyenne Stokes. Is It A Psychological Phenomenon?

My 97 year old Grandmother is suffering terminal anguish in her dying process. She was displaying Cheyenne Stokes and has slept 20 hours straight. Now she is awake and the delirium she had prior to all this is happening and she is trying to get out of bed. I was trying to decide calling Hospice, but is there a chance all this is just a psychological phenom and not dying?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
From the discription given by you about your mother I am really sorry to say that NOTHING will help her at present. You have already diagnosed her condition rightly with the words "Dying process". What we can do for her is to Make her Last Days as Comfortable as possible. .....................Dr. Somanath Krishnan
