On Morphine For Fibromylagia, Cancer. Any Herbal Supplement With Same Effect ?
HI, I am currently on Morphine and have been for about 4 years. I was wondering if there is an herbal supplement that would have a similar effect. I am a cancer patient and have fibromyalgia. Also, I would like to wean myself off without suffering from withdrawal. My tolerance is high and want to come off the Morphine gradually.

I am afraid there is no evidence based herbal medicine as effective and as strong as morphines. You might actually have to continue on morphines. You ill need to seek advice from your physician for a tapering schedule. As you rightly said, withdrawal symptoms might set in and might deserve the intervention of your doctor. morphine is also derived from a plant called opium , and a number of medicines was prepared from opium blending with other herbs for terrific pain management,
number of herbs work very well to slow down cancer like curcuma longa , taxus bacata , rohitak ,
and for coming off opium a herb kuchla [strynchus nuxvomica] in dose of 200 mg bd is good

1. as you are on morphine for 4 years, permanent effects like constipation and pin points pupils will remain for lifetime.
2. if you are considering withdrawal then substitute with oral methadone (long acting, orally effective).
3. Turmeric, Papaya fruit and ginger are proven to be effective in the management of pain associated with cancer.
