On And Off Bleeding After Taking Abortion Pill.Is That A Serious Problem?
Hi doctor! I m 25 nd had taken the abortion pill 6 weeks ago after I was 7 weeks pregnant, I have been bleeding, it is on and off though not continueously, I need help. At 5 weeks after the abortion I had sex with hubby though the bleeding had stopped that night bt the following I bled again and 2 clots came out but not at the same time........ I m afraid to go to the doctor what can be the problem now because the bleeding doesn t stop completely, I have no pains only the on and off bleeding
Hi,off and on bleeding after the intake of abortion pills usually indicates either an an incomplete abortion or infection post abortion. The effectiveness of abortion pills is just about 95% for upto 7 weeks pregnancy and further lessens as the period of pregnancy increases so its more likely to be an incomplete abortion especially if there is no fever to suggest an infection. I would suggest you get an ultrasound of uterus and adnexa and if it shows retained products or any sign of infection consult your gynaec.
