On Birth Control Pills. Occasional Periods. Black, Brownish Bloody Discharge. Reason?

Hello Doctor,I'm on the pill and have been for about 9 months now it is the mini lower dose pill, in the last 3 months I've had a period 6 days after I finish the pill packet,then 6 days before I finish the packet and now I'm 17 days into this packet and I have dark black/brownish blood yesterday for a little while then again tonight what could it be? Hello:

If you are in a progestin only pill (mini-pill). The bleeding pattern that you are describing (scant infrequent bleeding) is something expected to happen.

If this is not bothersome, you can continue taking the pill.
If you fill that you are bleeding too much, maybe it is time to consider switching your birth control method.
