On High BP Medicine But Occasionally Heart Rate Is 130 And Bp Is 90/70 With Slight Headache And Short Breath At Resting State. Is It Serious? Can I Consume Alcohol?

My husband is on medication for high blood pressure for years but recently, in few occasions (including right now) his heart rate is 130 and blood pressure is 90/70, he is short of breath and have a slight headache and dizziness. He was not doing any work, just resting. He is also to see his specialist next Tuesday and we were wondering how serious this is and if he should be seeing a GP straight away or it is OK to wait until his regular appointment in 4 days. Since this is a Festive season, we were wondering about the alcohol limit and what else to do to help. Many thanks, Rae

Hello
Although , you didn't mention the name of anti hypertensive medicine but heart rate 130 is alarming .
2nd important point is blood pressure ranging 90/70 mm of Hg.
May be due to .
1 Coronary artery disease , as you mentioned that he is also having shortness in breath . Old hypertensive patient are very prone to coronary artery disease.
As an old hypertensive , with tachycardia and hypotensive is concerning. Your husband need to investigated with E K G and echo to isolate the case . I would recommend you for your husband to visit a cardiologist and get his opinion as soon as possible.
2 COPD may be the next reason . Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest and physical examination .So consult a physician and get his opinion.
In my opinion first of all consult a cardiologist and get his opinion.
Good luck.
