On Hormone Replacement Therapy. Increased Dose Of Progesterone Due To Spotting. Risks?
I am seventy years old and have been on hormone replacement therapy for over 20 years - 1 mg of esterdoil and 2.5 milligrams of progesterone. In early summer of this year I started spotting, not a lot. We monitored this until about a month ago and when it did not quit, my gynecologist doubled the dose of the progesterone to thicken the lining of my uterus. I have quit spotting. What are the risks of increasing the progesterone??
hi welcome to HCM -hi i had gone through your query and understand your concerns. i would come up with two possibilities to fit your condition .these include
1.the first one include, OVER DOSAGE HORMONE;in such cases deccrease the dose may be sufficient to spontaneous cure.
2.second possibility is,PRE CANCEROUS CONDITION;thorough examination may needed foe confirmation like pap smear, biopsy, etc.
sometimes there is an underlying causes like ANEMIA,HYPOTHYROIDISM etc ,so kindly rule out with possible conditions.with blood test for Hb and thyroid profile
I hope this is helpful for you, thank you
