On Implanon, Have Symptoms Of Natural Period, Consistent Bleeding Since. What Could This Be?
I have been on the implanon for 20 months with only light spotting for the first 2/3 weeks of insertion and nothing since, 2 days ago I had lower back pain like I used to with my natural period, used the bathroom and I noticed a brown discharge/spotting which later turned into blood, I have been been bleeding ever since, what is this? Am I on my period? And how long will this last?
Hi, As you are on implanon which is a Etonogestrel Implant that can cause irregular menstrual pattern. Another thing is that it doesn't totally causes "ammenorrhea". That means your spotting and discharge followed by bleeding may be a normal peroid. But if you have delay in peroids more than 2 cycles then you should contact doctor and take a pregnancy test as "Implanon" have known side effect of ectopic pregnancy. If bleeding is prolonged (more than 8 days) or unusually heavy, contact your doctor. Take care.
