Pain In Chest, Hips, Calf Muscles During Stress Test. Prescribed Crestor. What Does Blockage Mean?

Hello, I had a treadmill stress test on Wednesday last week, I achieved 81% before I had to stop due to the pain in my chest hips and calfe muscles. after a 5 minute rest the pain did not decrease and the MD in charge recommended a bit of nitro spray and prescribed Crestor. He told me that I may have a blockage and I will be hearing from my GP to follow up with additional testing. What does he mean by a blockage? Why would he prescribe Nitro? Why would he prescribe Crestor without having done blood work?

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M.. Forum.
At treadmill you achieved 81 % target instead 100 % i.e there may be blockage (blood clot )in the coronary arteries ( artery) which supply blood to heart .
When heart don't receive full blood as required for day to day activities than patient develops chest pain on left side (usually) due to less amount of blood because of clot or blockage in concerned artery ( less supply of oxygen).
Crestor is a rosuvastatin a lipid lowering agent i.e. the clot or blockage is of lipid ,hence lipid lowering agent try to dissolve this clot to clear artery for proper blood supply as your doctor did in your case.
Complete heart check up as well blood examination is important in your case, so get in all & consult your doctor.
Hope you have understand all things.
Good luck.
