Pain In Lower Side After Partial Colectomy. Normal?
I am a 46-year old female and had a partial colectomy (5-6 inches removed) 5 weeks ago due to diverticulitis . I m still having a sharp pain on my lower right side (in between the 2 smaller lapriscopic incisions. Both incisions healed fine but I have this stabbing pain in this one spot whenever I move a certain way - mostly when starting to sit down or stand back up or trying to lay on my right side and especially when getting into the car. Is this normal?
Such sharp pain can appear due to skin nerves destruction during the surgery or hernia appearance. Other intraabdominal disease should be also considered. I suggest you to visit a surgeon for physical examination, have abdominal wall ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound and blood work done.
If no findings, nerve irritation seems most probable and should slowly disappear.
Hope this will help.
Regards.
