Pain In Sternum Common Post Bypass Surgery?

Had a triple bypass 6 months ago. I seem to be doing fine. I am affected by weather badly and still have a lot of movement and pain in my sternum when the weather changes. I also have a lot of pain in the upper portion of my right chest when I cough is this normal for 6 months.

Hello and thank you for using HCM.I carefully read your question and I understand your concern.

I will try to explain you something and give you my opinion.

After bypass surgery your sternum experience changes.It is an oppened bone that needs its time to close properly.

Having pains during whether changes might be normal.

Usaly this pains of the sternum needs 3-4 months to resolve, but this depends on different people.

To be shure that this is nothing to worry about, if I was the treating doctor I would recommend a thorax rx to closely evaluate the sternum and sceletic situation.

Only after this we can be shure that this pains are normal and will slowly disappear.
