Pain In The Ear, Clogged Ears After Being Hit. Treatment?

I play for a official basketball team in my town and we were practicing and a ball hit my ear with force yesterday. It felt like I just got done swimming.today the ear I got hit with doesn't hurt but the other ear feels like it has water in it but I doesn't when ever I talk I hear a humming inside of me. Thank you

Thanks for writing to H.C.M.

I read your query regarding pain in ear, clogged after being hit by basket boll with force.

As you said after being hit by basket boll on your ear ,you suddenly developed clogged ear and you feel echo of your own spoken words even in your opposite ear also. This happen because due to hit by the boll most probably your ear drum on hit side gets perforated by compressed air force. The perforated drum gives the feeling of clogged ear.

This type of traumatic perforation usually heals by itself as our ear drum has tremendous healing power. But you should do -

1- Don't put any ear drop or oil in ear.

2- Keep ear clean and dry.

3- Care for cold, if cold develops than take tab Cetrizine.

4- keep ear plug with a cotton plug.

If this conservative treatment fails, consultation with ENT specialist becomes necessary.
