Pain In The Tonsils, Dizziness, Frequent Urination And Headaches. Treatment?

Hi,

I am a normally healthy 31 year old male, who has been experiencing tonsil pain, dizziness, and headaches. These symptoms have only lasted about 2 days. Today, however i have experienced an increase in the frequency at which i urinate (around 2-3 times an hour). I also feel lethargic, but have had trouble sleeping. I have a temperature of 38 degree's C. I have been drinking a blackberry tea in an effort to sooth my tonsils, i have also been taking paracetamol and vitamin C tablets. Is there anything i should be doing in an effort to get better? I dont want to take any more time off work.

Hello,
Increase in the frequency to urinate can be becuase of excessive tea intake.
You should consult ENT specialist so that if there is throat infection and ear infection can be ruled out.
as you have dizziness and headaches.
If the pain is more then you may require antibiotics to get quick relief and prevent the sprewad of infection .
in addition you can take antiinflammatory tablets , as plain paracetamol may not help, like diclofenac/ ibuprofen.
take lukewarm fluid to sooth your throat ,but take care of acidity .
Take care of reflux of gastric content in food pipe as this will cause recurrent throat infection /irritation ,specially if you snore (as chances of reflux increases).
get well soon
if in doubt do reply

Hello

Thanks for writing to H.C.M.

I read your query regarding pain in tonsils, dizziness, frequent urination and headache.

Amongs your symptoms headache, fever, dizziness and pain in tonsils are due to infection of tonsils thus they are inter-related. you have taken blackberry tea for soothing the tonsils, this is in turn causing increase in frequency of urination.

As for as treatment is concern you should take-

(a) Tab Paracetamol.

(b) Tab cetrizine.

(c) Adequate fluid orally.

I hope this will help you.

Regards.
