Pain In The Wrist After Removing The Canula. Had A Hernia Surgery. Is This Normal?
hi , i had a hernia op (LHS groin )a week ago , had the canula put in back of left hand , noticed 2 days ago pain on back of wrist under my watch , when i took watch off , i noticed that a vein was quite pronounced going diagonally across my wrist and is quite painfull to touch , is this normal after having a canula , this was the first ever op for me?
Hi
In some patients, the vein will get inflammed and infected due to Cannula. It is called thrombophlebitis.
Please take oral antibiotic like Clindamycin and anti inflammatory drug.
Apply topical Thrombophobe ointment.
Nothing to worry.
It will be subsided.
Wish you good health
Regards
