Pain In Throat. Difficulty In Swallowing. Diagnosed With Pharyngitis. No Help With Medicines, Home Remedies. Solution?
Hi, In the last 3 weeks I have seen the doctor twice due to intense pain in my throat that prevented me from swallowing pretty much anything as well as some other symptoms. I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and pharyngitis . I am still sick and have a lot of drainage going on. Some pain still in my throat and a deep couch that sounds croupy. I am tired of going to the doctor because they run all these tests and charge my bill up but will never give me anything to help me get better. I have also tried several over the counter medications such as benadryl , ny-quil, and day-quil. I have also gargled salt water, tried a couple home remedies, etc. Any suggestions for me? Thank you!
Hello
Thanks for writing to H.C.M. for your query.
I have gone through your query and as you said that you are havingthis problem of pain on swallowing for last 3 weeks indicates about phryngeal infection, you aso feels as something is draining in your throat signifies post nasal drip.
Considering your clinical history I am suspecting that you are suffering from Acute respiratory tract infection along with sinus infection. This can't be treated by home remady only. To manage it properly you are advice for these basic invesigations-
(1) C.T.scan of paranasal sinuses.
(2) Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.
(3) X-Ray chest - P.A.view.
(4) Blood- CBC, ESR, blood sugar- F. & P.P.,
(5) Urine - R. & M.
After this a thorough examination of nose and throat along with clinical co-relation with inferences of investigations will disclose the real facts for diagnosis whih can be accordingly manage.
With Regards.
