Hello,
Thanks for posting on HCM,
You did not precise which level of your chest is paining i.e your chest or at the level of your upper quadrant. Referred needs to be excluded but first we need to discuss possible other causes of right sided pain (assuming from your description that it originates from one of your abdominal quadrants). Right-sided pain under ribs could be as a result of gastrointestinal disorder or kidney disorder (but it seems kidney disorder has been ruled out already with a CT scan). You could be having:
- liver diseases:
Hepatomegaly or enlargement of the liver, liver cirrhosis, hepatitis or fatty liver disease may cause the upper right section of the abdomen to feel pain. Excessive use of drugs or alcohol, exposure to certain toxins, injury or
autoimmune disease may lead to
liver damage that can cause this pain.
- Gallbladder Problems
- Gastrointestinal disorders such as
appendicitis,
diverticulitis, Crohn's diseases,
Peptic ulcer diseases
- IBS
Considering the possibility that your right pain could be coming from your ribs or beneath, then you might be suffering from
- Costochondirtis: If the costal cartilage at the junction of the sternum and ribs becomes inflamed it is known as
costochondritis.
- Pneumonitis
- Intercostal strain
Each of the above conditions will need to be determined separately for appropriate treatment to be provided.
If there is pain, then there is a cause and until that cause is determined and treated, pain killers might not be sufficient to remedy the situation. You will need to see a doctor for follow-up.
Hope this helps
