Painful Large Bruise Around Elbow. History Of Drawing Blood To Confirm Test Of Systemic Lupus. Suggest

My daughter (32 yrs old) had blood drawn 6 days ago and has developed a vary large bruise about 1" from elbow crease down into and under her elbow. Bruising is not even near where they actually took the blood from. It has become very painful. Any suggestions? Blood work she went for was to confirm first test of Systemic Lupus.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic
Bruising little away from the site of venous puncture is possible. A large bruise like this after just a venepuncture might be because of platelets or clotting factor deficiency. Low platelet count can be a manifestation of SLE as well. There is a small chance of infection if the hematoma is large. I will recommend you show it to primary physician for a better evaluation.
Hope this helped
