Hi

By the symptoms that you are mentioning it seems to be an upper respiratory tract infection . Since your symptoms have persisted for more than 5 days you are most probably having a bacterial infection .

I suggest the following

Take steam inhalation at least 3 times a day .
Do Betadine gargling twice a day
Avoid oily food and cold food like ice creams etc

Take a paracetamol 3-4 times a day .

You will also need a dose of antibiotic such as Tab . Levofloxacin for 5 days ( but you will need a prescription for it )

Also when you say throat glands i am assuming its tonsils you are talking of .

In case there is a recurrence or persistence of swelling of the tonsils you will need to be evaluated by an ENT surgeon
