Painful Swelling After Vasectomy. Will I Have Issues With Vas/scrotum Connection In The Future?
Hello, I had a vasectomy 2 1/2 weeks ago. For the first week and a half I had very painful swelling on my right side. My left side was fine after the 3rd day. Figuring my right side wasn't normal, I went back to the dr that did my vasectomy. He said that I had a sperm granuloma. Most likely caused by me crunching my legs together or rolling over wrong while I was sleeping. Saying that I had caused a small tear in the vas and had some sperm leakage into the scrodum. Rest and ice would do the trick. I took off 10 days from work for this. Not good. The major swelling went down about 4 days ago. I now can feel that one end of the severed vas on my right side is attached to the back side of my incision. I am starting to think that if the dr sutured vas while he was suturing the incision, that would have caused the leakage and swelling. I am still sore in that area and there is some swelling, but not really in pain at the moment. I do occasionally feel a tugging when moving my legs a certain way. I've looked around on the net and see that this has happened before to others. But no real answers to my questions. My questions are : Is this OK and safe? Will I most likely not have any issues with this vas/scrotum connection in the future? Would you recommend that I have this corrected asap? If they do separate from some sort of trauma,(sports injury) will I have major leakage and be in terrible pain?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
Hello Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have undergone vasectomy 3 weeks back and has noticed painful swelling on the Rt side just adjacent to testicle and worried about that the operating surgeon has stitched scrotum to Vas difference.
It is unlikely to happen that Vas is stitched to scrotal wall as is quite deep inside .The swelling that you have is most ilkely induration at the site of ligation and it is very common to happen once in awhile .
Please take broad spectrum antibiotics along with anti inflammatory medication like Diclofenac twice daily .
It will get cured within 6 to 8 weeks. Dr.Patil. Do not worry this will get resolved over a period of time.
