Although recovery time is considered to be 2-3 days, there is a chance it might take a while longer.

There is also a chance that there could have been some damage to a blood vessel during the extraction process. This at times causes a presentation at a different part (the part supplied by the blood vessel that got damaged).

Please give it sometime or discuss the possibility with your dentist.

After extraction of teeth it usually takes 3 to 4 days for the complete healing and closure of the socket if there is no super infection . As you have complaint of pain and swelling below the tongue 3 days post extraction, i can suspect some kind of infection in the extraction area that has spread to adjacent tissue. it may even progress to abscess formation.
Exact diagnosis can be made only after visual examination and radiographs. i suggest you to visit a dentist soon before the condition gets worse.
Meantime you can start with Amoxycillin with clavulate tablets and diclofenac with serratiopeptidase two times daily which will definitly subside the swelling and pain.

usually extraction socket heals within a period of 1 week if there is no medical history associated.

swelling,pain ,increased salivation are the associated symptoms.

take warm saline gargle and betadine rinse frequently.

application of ice packs at the site of swelling will suppress it.

i would advice you to take complete analgesics-antibiotics course prescribed by your dentist.

make sure that you keep the extraction socket without any food lodgement.

After the tooth removal, there is bound to be some kind of discomfort and pain. The pain and soreness may last for few days after tooth extraction. Painkillers are given by the dentist to control the pain. Pain meds such as Ibuprofen, Tylenol, Paracetamol, Solpadeine or Nurofen Plus can be used to control the pain.Swelling after tooth extraction procedure is a normal body reaction and is indicator of normal progress of healing of tooth extraction socket.The swelling can be treated by using an ice-pack or by pressing a bag of frozen peas against the cheek near the tooth which is removed. This will help to lessen the swelling. Alcohol, hot foods and drinks and work out immediately after the tooth extraction can aggravate the swelling. Warm saline rinses and hot moist compresses 1-2 days after tooth extraction will further help in reducing the swelling.
