Painful Throat While Swallowing With Small Pimples Inside, Plugged Ears With Pressure, Bad Cough. How To Deal With This?
Hi, My right side throat hurts when i swallow. It feels like i had swallowed a ball and it hurts every time I swallow my own saliva. This morning it started off like i swallowed a peanut and now it feels like something bigger is stuck on the right inner side of my throat. When I felt the inside of it, I feel small pimples as far as I can reach. The swelling is not visible outside. My right ear also feels plugged, like there is pressure and I need to pop it! I have had a bad cough for about a week now. I don’t know if that is the cause of it. I have been drinking warm water all day and forcing myself swallow painfully. Please help, I need to know how to deal with it.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Your symptoms suggest inflammation of tonsils, may be following cold(which has given rise to blocked eustechian tube) & cough. - Tonsillitis can be - viral which sets right within 5-7 days with symptomatic management. by hot saline gargles, anti inflammatory drugs, cough syrup. Avoid cold, spicy, sour food items. - A prolonged/seveir illness needs to be investigated for possibility of staphylococcal infection by Blood counts, throat swab culture. Tubercle like swellings & feeling of some thing being stuck needs exclusion of septic tonsillitis with scab formation. I would advice you to consult an ENT doctor for specific treatment. Thanks
