Painless Swelling Around Neck. Diagnosed With TB. Medicated For 9 Months. Is TB Contageous? Is It In Active State?
Hi Doctor, My Wife has developed a painless swelling around the neck . Doctors have diagnosed it to be TB at lymph node. They have given medication for 3+6 months. My question to u is- - Is this TB in active status now. If yes, how long does it take to change the status back to latent. - Is this TB contageous.
Hi, Jughead,
Thanks for query.
Nothing to worry, once treatment is started it does not infect others.
After completion of the treatment your wife will become completely cured.
T.B.is not a contagious disease but it is infectious and spreads infection through air.
TB bacteria present in the air due to coughing out from infected person.
Once treatment started bacteria looses its potency to produce disease.
So untreated persons are more risky for infecting others.
Ok and bye.
