Papillary Carcinoma Spread To The Delphoid Node. Total Thyroidectomy Done. Swelling In The Neck Diagnosed As Lymphadenopathy

I had a total thyroidectomy with papillary carcinoma that spread to the delphiod node. This was last aug. I am now having my left side of my neck from my ear down to my clavicle swollen. I hasa ct that shoed large lymph nodes which were bilateral more so on the left with cystic degeneration and called it lymphadenopathy at 1.5 cm being the largest. Is this or could this be cancer? Thanks for your query.

Lymph node enlargement in a known papillary carcinoma treated situation needs further evaluation like FNAC of the affected lymph node. If the report comes as positive for papillary carcinoma deposits in the lymph node then a surgical removal of the lymphnodes (procedure- Modified radical neck dissection ) should be done later on follow up with radioisotope scan.
