hi, i m 21 and my parotid glands are visibly swollen it s been 3 years now. i used to drink allot 2-3 times a week, sometimes more, but rarely less, for 6 years. it s been almost 1 year since i don t drink, and the glands are getting better. will it ever disappear completely if i continue not drinking? thank you for your answers.
swelling of parotid glands is mostly due to mixed parotid tumor or viral infection i.e. mumps.It is good you have stopped drinking,it would be much better if don`t touch it again.Wait & watch is the best policy.

Alcohol has a controversial link to causing a condition called Sialadenosis which causes the swollen parotid glands with/without pain. Once the gland enlargement has started the only proved treatment is surgery to remove the parotid gland to give you relief. There is some association between alcohol induced pain and swelling of lymph nodes in patients with Hodgkin's lymphona. It would be wise to get it biopsied and tested first to rule out infection, benign or malignant cancers as well.
