Partial Hearing Impairment, Ringing Sound In Ear, Painless Lump Below The Ear And Foul Smelling Lump On The Knee. What Do These Indicate?
i have an untreated ear which produces ringing sound. since i could hear partially well enough, i didn t consulted a doc for 4 to 5 years. now, i m having a lump like thing just below left ear, besides a foul smelling lump on my left knee . both of them are painless. what should i do? is it serious? could you explain me the symptoms?
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
A ringing sound in the ear ( also known as tinnitus) along with partial hearing loss can occur in a variety of conditions like ear wax, middle ear problems ( an infection in the middle ear or some fluid in the middle ear or uncommonly a tumour), Meniere's disease ( when there is a lot of fluid which accumulates in the inner ear), a side effect of certain medications and several other causes.
The lump like thing just below the left ear is likely to be a group of enlarged lymph nodes. These lymph nodes which act as defense barriers in our body often enlarge in response to infection.
It is unlikely that this is related to the lump on your left knee, which could be an abscess or a sebaceous cyst.
This ear condition, if left untreated, can lead to several complications. I would suggest you see an ENT specialist at the earliest and get an evaluation done. Proper treatment needs to be instituted as fast as possible.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Hi welcome to healthcare magic forum,
Ringing sound in ear called as tinnitus. Sometimes tinnitus may or may not associated with hearing loss.Tinnitus may be due to many reasons like - impacted cerumen, middle ear infection , or inner ear abnormality (Meniere's disease).
But as you marked a lump below left ear and lump on knee. These two may or may not related.
In my opinion the lump below the ear without any pain indicate may be of parotid gland lesion or periauricular lymphadenopathy.
What I suggest you should consult an ENT specialist and a medicine specialist as early as possible for a clinical examination.
regards.
