Patch Of Darker Skin On Thigh, Appeared After Surfing, Water Is Dirty. Anything To Worry?
Hi, I was surfing in Bali a few weeks ago and have hike there developed a patch of darker skin on my thigh. It has now been there for about 3 weeks, not itchy or sensitive to touch but just darker than the rest of my skin...it is sort of amoeba shaped about 3 inches long by 1 in across. It s darker around the edges and goes towards my normal skin color in the middle. I am a 37yr female who has spent many years in the sun surfing around the world...I rarely burn and usually get pretty dark after a bit of it win the sun. The water in Bali is pretty dirty so am wondering if this is something I should be concerned about! Thanks!!

Patch Of Darker Skin On Thigh, Appeared After Surfing, Water Is Dirty. Anything To Worry?
Hi, Do not worry, it is not serious skin disease. Most probably it is ecchymosis. There is leak of blood in skin. The color you see is of blood. It is localised purpura. It may be due to mild trauma or friction. Local application of thrombophob ointment and oral vitamin C and vitamin K would be of great help. Lesion may disappear without any treatment also, so you may wait for fadding. If the lesion remains without change, diagnosis may be revised. That should be done by your dermatologist, whom you consult. I hope you got my answer. Thanks. Dr. Ilyas Patel MD
