Peeing Blood, Blood Is Thick And Almost Looks Like It Has Tissue. Hymen?

I have been peeing blood recently, but it looks like period blood. It is NOT coming from my vagina and I don't think from my urine. I had a hymen that didn't completely break the first time I had sex, and when it broke it stayed and is visible when looking at my vagina (my personal obgyn has commented on it). It can be sensitive and has bled in the past. However, now I think it bleeds when I pee. The blood is thick and almost looks like it has tissue, It doesn't mix with the urine but settles like period blood. I am NOT on my period, there is no blood coming from my vagina! COULD it by my hymen?!

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
The possible causes for your problem are :
- Urinary tract infection sometimes can present with blood in urine. But usually it accompanies with other symptoms like pain during micturition, urgency and increased frequency of urination etc symptoms.
- Intermenstrual spotting can be seen due to hormonal imbalance. Sometimes endometrial tissue can shed along with bleeding.
-Post coital tear can lead to passage of blood. Bits of hymen also sometimes can shed after intercourse.
-Hemorrhoids, anal fissure etc conditions can lead to passage of blood in stool. That can be mistaken for vaginal bleeding sometimes.
So, if the bleeding persists, better to consult gynecologist once and get examined.
If she recommends go for investigations like urine microscopy, ultrasound etc.
By this workup the possible cause for your problem can be identified and treated.
Take care.
