Periods Missed, Three Months Pregnancy Confirmed. Is It Safe To Have Abortion And Its Future Effects?
Hi. My girlfriend had her last period 3 months before (was due on 7th may but not happened). This means she is not having periods since last 3 months (8 april was the last date of period). When contacted doctor, she got confirmed as pregnant. Please suggest, for how many months (weeks) she can be pregnant?? What is the best method to have abortion, how safe it is, how much can be the cost in Delhi,for how much time she'll need to get admitted, after discharge how much rest will be needed and what can be the future after-effects and chances of getting pregnant in future..????

If she was having regular 28-30 day cycles prior to this pregnancy, she could be 16 weeks pregnant by now and this means she can have only a surgical abortion under the surveillance of a specialist. She would need to stay for a couple of days at least in the hospital as she may need an induction and the cost can vary by the hospital chosen and the amount of medication needed as she is well into the second trimester. She would need at least two weeks rest and abstinence and provided there are no untoward incidents, is reasonably safe and does not pose any problem for future pregnancies.
