Periods Were Red Color For 2 Days, Brown Color On Rest Of The Days After Unprotected Sex

Hi, I have a regular cycle and get my period monthly. I'm 20 years old. I have unprotected sex with my partner but we use the pull out method. I started my period November 13th and ended November 18th. Typically I get really heavy period and lots of blood clots during it.
On the first and second day of my period it was a normal blood color and heavy. But the rest of the days my period was heavy but instead of the normal blood red color it was dark brown and remained that way for the rest of my period. Last night and Today I noticed I have started bleeding lightly and it's pink? I'm just really confused. Help?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Alteration in the menstrual flow is common.
And that can occur due to many causes like hormonal abnormality, anemia etc.
The possible causes for your problem are :
- Brown colored blood usually indicates collected blood in the endometrium.
That can be considered as normal only.
-Hormonal imbalance leading to prolonged spotting.
- In case of pregnancy, there is possibility of miscarriage.
So, consult gynecologist once and get examined.
If she recommends, go for ultrasound.
By this the possibility of pregnancy and endometrial abnormalities can be ruled out.
Then with her advice, you can take tablets to control the spotting.
If the spotting repeats, you may need hormonal pills for few months to regularize the menstrual flow.
Take care.
