Pill Stuck And Dissolved By Tonsils And Its Very Painful

I had half a setraline pill get lodged in a divet just before my tonsil. I could reach it with finger , gagging quite a bit, but could not dislodge it. I drank lots of water and it continued to dissolve and burn for a couple hours. Woke up the next am feeling like my tonsil was swollen, very painful to swallow, and the divet still was white from the pill, but the pill itself was gone. Its been about 32hrs since it happened and still hurts to swallow and still red and inflammed around that area. Should l see an ENT dr? Or is there something l can do on my own along with just time for it to heal? Thanks for any help you can give me! AAB

You probably have sustained injury from the tablet lodging near the tonsil for which you will need to seek medical help. The Doctors would clean up the area and give you medicines to make you more comfortable and also may put you on antibiotics to help it heal. Do warm salt water gargling for relief. Avoid hot, hard or spicy food. Eat cool, soft food like yoghurt, ice cream. Consult your ENT Doctor immediately.

Hello, welcome to HCM. You should gargle with warm saline water and you can take tab cetrizine twice a day to relieve pain in your tonsils. In case symptoms persist you can visit a ENT doctor. Wish you good health.

One should not try to dislodge a pill using finger.Driking water was good option. You can also use a little hot water to get it dissolve more. Now as your tonsils are swollen and it is painful to swallow ,you need medical help.Warm saline gargles will also help you reducing pain and infection also.
